Quebec Brokerage Qubit Insurance Announces New Data on Coverage Shortfalls as Rebuilding Costs Rise
Montreal, Canada, September 12th, 2026, FinanceWire
Qubit Insurance, an independent, AMF-licensed brokerage serving clients across Quebec, has revealed that a significant portion of Quebec homeowners may be underinsured due to rising construction costs. In a recent review of 1,200 new client policies, the brokerage found that 38% were underinsured relative to current rebuilding costs by an average of 16%.
According to Qubit Insurance, this discrepancy can trigger a co-insurance clause built into many home insurance policies, potentially reducing claim payouts even on partial losses. Many homeowners assume their insurance will cover the full cost of rebuilding after a loss, such as a fire or flood. However, if a home is insured for less than its true rebuild cost, an insurer may only pay out a percentage of a claim that matches the percentage of coverage carried. For example, a homeowner insured at 70% of their home’s actual rebuild value could see a routine claim reduced by nearly 30%, regardless of the damage’s actual repair cost.
The problem has grown more common as rebuilding costs have climbed. The Association des professionnels de la construction et de l’habitation du Québec (APCHQ) estimates that construction costs have risen by roughly 18% cumulatively since 2023, driven by inflation in materials and skilled labor. A policy that accurately reflected a home’s rebuild cost three years ago may now be underinsuring that home by a significant margin.
“We’re seeing this constantly in client feedback right now: people who haven’t touched their property coverage limits in years, even though the actual cost to rebuild their home has increased substantially,” said Manjot Singh, Insurance Broker at Qubit Insurance, who specializes in commercial and personal lines insurance. “The frustrating part is that it’s invisible until there’s a claim; nobody gets a warning that their coverage has fallen behind.”
“In a review of 1200 new client policies this year, Qubit Insurance found 38% were underinsured relative to current rebuild cost, by an average of 16%.”
To help mitigate the risk of underinsurance and reduced payouts, Qubit Insurance recommends that Quebec homeowners:
- Have their home’s reconstruction cost re-evaluated at least every two years, or after any major renovations.
- Review their dwelling coverage limit at every renewal rather than letting the policy auto-renew without adjustments.
- Confirm with their insurer or broker whether their policy applies a co-insurance clause, and at what percentage.
- Work with a broker who can compare reconstruction-cost estimates and coverage terms across multiple carriers.

Solli Rothschild Launches Research Initiative on Personal Names, Trademarks and Digital Identity
After a Personal Experience at the Intersection of Names, Trademarks and Domain Names, Solli Rothschild Opens a Broader Conversation About Who Owns the Meaning of a Name
Norway, 12th Sep 2026 – Entrepreneur and investor Solli Rothschild has launched an independent research and discussion initiative examining the increasingly complex relationship between personal names, trademarks, domain names, digital identity and commercial brands.

The initiative grew partly from Rothschild’s own experience at the intersection of a personal surname, commercial identity and intellectual-property rights. Rather than focusing exclusively on an individual dispute, the project seeks to examine a broader question emerging as entrepreneurs increasingly build companies, reputations and international digital identities around their own names.
A surname can carry several meanings at the same time. It can represent family heritage and personal identity while also becoming associated with businesses, products, professional services, websites, publications and trademarks. In an increasingly digital and international economy, those different forms of identity can sometimes meet in ways that are difficult to define using traditional distinctions between a person and a brand.
Rothschild’s research will explore how personal names function when they enter commercial life, including questions surrounding personal-name trademarks, domain names, commercial reputation, consumer perception and the distinction between legitimate personal identity and potential commercial confusion. The research will also consider how these issues differ across jurisdictions and how the growth of social media, digital platforms and artificial intelligence may change the way individuals establish and protect their identities.

From Personal Experience to a Broader Research Question
The subject became particularly relevant to Rothschild after experiencing first-hand how a person’s surname can intersect with trademark and domain-name proceedings. That experience prompted her to look beyond the immediate circumstances and investigate a wider set of questions affecting entrepreneurs, trademark owners and individuals who build businesses around their own names.
The initiative will examine when a personal name begins functioning as a commercial identifier, whether a personal reputation can develop independently from an established corporate brand, how businesses built around shared surnames can coexist, and how domain-name disputes involving genuine personal names should be considered.
The research will draw on intellectual-property law, trademark practice, domain-name jurisprudence and the experience of entrepreneurs operating internationally. WIPO’s published materials, for example, recognize that personal names can in certain circumstances acquire trademark significance through commercial use, while registered personal-name trademarks can provide a basis for UDRP proceedings.
An Invitation to the Intellectual-Property Community
Rothschild intends to develop the initiative as an open research discussion and plans to invite trademark attorneys, intellectual-property specialists, domain-name lawyers, academics and entrepreneurs to contribute different perspectives.
Rather than presenting one definitive answer, the project will examine where the boundaries between personal identity and commercial trademark rights should be drawn, particularly when the same surname may legitimately be used by different people, families or businesses.
“My interest is not simply in my own situation. It made me realise that there is a much bigger question here. A surname can be a family identity, a personal identity, a business identity and a trademark. What happens when those meanings overlap?”
Rothschild said she particularly welcomes disagreement from professionals working in the field.
“I would actually like lawyers to challenge my thinking. If trademark attorneys, academics or entrepreneurs see the issue differently, I want to hear those arguments. The objective is to understand the boundaries, not to pretend that one person’s experience provides all the answers.”
The project will form part of Rothschild’s broader work examining digital identity, reputation, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and the changing relationship between individuals and global brands. Future research will consider how increasingly powerful digital identities may affect the way personal names are used, recognized and protected in international commerce.

Guggenheim Introduces 24-7 Client Support in Indonesia Guided by Prof. Wong Woon Thiam
Guggenheim introduces 24/7 client support capabilities in Indonesia under the operational guidance of Prof. Wong Woon Thiam, strengthening service reliability and regional client engagement.
United States, 12th Sep 2026 – Guggenheim has announced a comprehensive upgrade to its client service infrastructure in Indonesia, establishing dedicated round-the-clock operational support for regional participants and market stakeholders.
The deployment aims to strengthen operational reliability, reduce response latency for complex institutional queries, and support continuous engagement across Southeast Asian financial markets.

Operational Foundation of Client Support
In modern asset management, client service infrastructure serves as a core operational link between global investment platforms and regional market participants. As transaction volumes and cross-border interactions expand in Southeast Asia, clients require continuous, real-time administrative and technical assistance. Guggenheim’s Jakarta-based service rollout addresses these operational needs by establishing a multi-channel support framework designed to handle complex administrative, technical, and reporting inquiries without interruption.
The operational architecture provides dedicated access points across encrypted digital messaging portals, desk interfaces, and standardized phone communication channels. By maintaining continuous operational availability, the firm ensures that market participants operating across different time zones can receive timely technical support regarding portfolio administration, data transmission, and transaction confirmations.
Integration of Multi-Lingual Capability and Local Technical Expertise
A central element of the updated service framework is the deployment of localized, multi-lingual client support specialists trained in Bahasa Indonesia and standard international business languages. The client desk team comprises professionals with specialized backgrounds in financial technology, market operations, and regulatory reporting procedures.
This technical composition enables support personnel to address complex technical queries directly, rather than relying on automated scripts or centralized call centers in distant jurisdictions. Whether assisting clients with platform navigation, customized reporting generation, or data interface troubleshooting, the localized support team acts as a direct administrative liaison, ensuring that client communications remain clear, efficient, and contextually precise.
Perspectives from Prof. Wong Woon Thiam on Operational Reliability
Under the academic and quantitative guidance of Prof. Wong Woon Thiam, the service initiative incorporates structured operational benchmarks to evaluate response accuracy and operational efficiency. Prof. Wong’s focus on quantitative systems management has informed the development of performance metrics that govern inquiry handling and issue resolution protocols.
“Institutional trust in financial platforms is built upon consistent operational execution and responsive service standards,” stated Prof. Wong Woon Thiam during an operational review meeting in Jakarta. “By establishing continuous support infrastructure staffed by qualified local professionals, we aim to provide market participants in Indonesia with the operational clarity and technical reliability required to navigate dynamic market environments effectively.”
Application of Predictive Analytics in Client Inquiry Workflows
In tandem with human technical support, the upgraded service framework integrates predictive analytical tools designed to optimize inquiry workflow management. The system utilizes structured pattern recognition algorithms to categorize incoming client requests, prioritize urgent operational queries, and direct specific technical inquiries to the appropriate internal subject matter experts.
By analyzing historical query patterns, the support architecture can anticipate common administrative needs during periods of elevated market activity or routine reporting cycles. This analytical integration assists operational teams in maintaining rapid resolution times while ensuring that complex technical requests receive thorough, structured evaluation from compliance and portfolio analytics specialists.
Long-Term Client Engagement and Regional Framework Alignment
The establishment of 24/7 client support capabilities in Jakarta represents a deliberate step toward deepening long-term client relationships across Southeast Asia. The localized service framework operates in close coordination with Guggenheim’s global operational hubs, ensuring that regional inquiries are handled in accordance with relevant operational standards and applicable local requirements.
As market participation across the ASEAN region grows, ongoing technological iterations will focus on expanding self-service analytics portals, automated reporting options, and integrated compliance audit trails. Through these continuous enhancements, the firm aims to maintain high standards of client service, operational transparency, and functional stability across regional capital markets.
