This is quite easy to explain: lasers that are reliable, have an attractive design, and are well-known among those interested in purchasing them are actively being counterfeited.
Imagine this: a certain “black buyer” from China, posing as an official representative of the factory, is trying to pass off cheap copies of professional laser hair removal devices as genuine MAYER SAPPHIRE equipment in beauty studios. How did this come to light? A client from Uzbekistan contacted MAYER. She wanted to receive training on how to use our device and get support. When asked where she purchased the MAYER SAPPHIRE, the alarming response was: “From a buyer in China, directly from the factory.”
But here’s the catch: MAYER equipment is only supplied through their central office in Moscow! Any other distribution scheme is a red flag. The original MAYER SAPPHIRE diode laser currently costs 1,050,000 rubles. However, our trusting customer purchased a counterfeit… for just $6,500 (approximately 650,000 rubles). The difference is, of course, staggering, but the price of beauty and health could be much higher! Imagine being offered a ‘Bentley’ for the price of a ‘Zhiguli’: the external resemblance is deceptive—the technical core of such devices has nothing in common with the original. Basic design proportions are violated, and the geometry of the control panel with the display is distorted. Even the use of our logo does not make the counterfeit authentic—it is merely a superficial imitation. The handpieces lack the signature ergonomics, and the internal layout is made using cheap components… Such devices not only fall short of the original—they tarnish the very philosophy of MAYER SAPPHIRE, where every detail embodies engineering excellence.”
“Unfortunately, we recently had a client approach us who purchased a counterfeit laser, claiming that the deal was made ‘directly with a buyer,’” comments Evgeny Mayer. “However, this is absolutely impossible: every MAYER SAPPHIRE device is sold exclusively through official managers who have undergone a rigorous selection process. I personally oversee every transaction—it is fundamentally important to us that the client receives not just a device, but impeccable service and personalized support at every stage. Such cases are not just deceit; they are a blow to the trust we have built with our customers over the years.”
Regarding the sources of counterfeits, the founder adds: “It’s difficult to pinpoint specific culprits right now, but the rise in counterfeit products is the flip side of the brand’s popularity. Why can’t a laser be cheap?
First, let’s look at market realities: the cost of components increases every year, labor conditions improve, rental prices rise, and transportation services become more expensive—all of this factors into the cost of a laser. We are against cutting corners on equipment quality because it should serve you for at least 5, if not more than 10, years. What should you know about the characteristics of a high-quality laser?
