Magnific Originals premieres Backrooms Nemoris: one filmmaker, six months and $20,000 in AI tokens
Written and directed by Javi Lopez, the pilot of a planned 10-episode series showcases how creative professionals can take their own stories from script to screen
TORONTO, 23rd Sep 2026 — Magnific Originals released It Eats Light, the first episode of Backrooms Nemoris, a 10-part horror anthology written, directed, edited and sound-designed by Javi Lopez. He made it alone and in secret over six months, running some 7,000 generations and, by his own estimate, about $20,000 in AI tokens to finish 17 minutes of film. The episode had its world premiere on September 15 at a Magnific-hosted event in Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and is now streaming on YouTube and at magnific.com/originals.

Backrooms Nemoris builds a new canon on the Backrooms mythos, the internet horror legend that grew out of a single anonymous photograph of an empty, yellow-lit office posted online in 2019. Lopez wrote the script from scratch: a new universe, not an adaptation. The pilot reveals barely 5% of the overall puzzle, with clues hidden throughout the episode, several of them buried deep enough to need a second viewing. The rest unfolds across the anthology’s ten episodes.
“It is probably the most complex project I have ever taken on, and it took more effort than building the first version of Magnific Upscaler,” said Lopez. “Every scene you see in this episode, every object, every movement of a character’s hands, every space, every vibration, every breath is there with a specific intention and under my complete control.”
Sound took roughly 60% of those six months. Some scenes stack more than 13 simultaneous audio tracks, built from Lopez’s own recordings, generated audio and Foley libraries, with the position of each sound in space, its equalization and its reverberation set by hand to put the viewer inside each room.
On the image side, Lopez generated 12 hours of video to keep 17 minutes, a ratio of about 42 to 1. He worked primarily with Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 inside Magnific, from image references made with Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 5 Pro, holding continuity across shots through repeated refinement of prompts and references. He edited in DaVinci Resolve using the Magnific plugin.
For studios and filmmakers, the pilot is a reference point: one person can now take a story from script to a finished episode before a production team exists, and use that episode to recruit one.
That is Lopez’s next step. He is assembling a small team for the following episodes: voice actors, a colorist, 3D VFX specialists and a sound designer. “I can’t do this alone again,” he said. “The plan is a small team from traditional film that helps us professionalize the pipeline and take this story to another level.”
The premiere, at the Ace Hotel Toronto, was followed by a fireside chat between Lopez and Ryan Patterson, AI filmmaker and co-founder of Queen One Studios, and by the panel “Retaining Creative Agency: How Artists and Filmmakers are Leveraging AI with Fine Control,” with creative technologist Lianne Baron, visual artist and filmmaker Dorothy Pang, AI filmmaker Tiffani Lee Joseph and videographer Jasmine El Kurd. Across the premiere and an evening reception, Magnific hosted 150 guests from VFX, film and animation, with attendees from Pixomondo, Spin VFX, MELS Studios, Company 3, CBC and the Canada Media Fund.
Lopez has one request for viewers: “Watch it on a big screen, at home, with a good sound system or proper headphones, lights off.”
Trailer, stills and production material are available on request. Javi Lopez is available for interviews through the contact below. More on the series at magnific.com/originals/backrooms-nemoris.

Press Release
LA County Immigration Lawyer: Ghazi Law Group Helps Families Navigate Divorce and Immigration Status
Ghazi Law Group, APLC, one of the best immigration and family law resources serving Los Angeles County, highlights coordinated legal planning for clients whose divorce or separation may overlap with an immigration matter. The release explains how immigration status, family petitions, conditional residence, sponsorship obligations, VAWA protections, custody, support, and divorce proceedings can create connected legal concerns, and how early planning can help clients organize evidence, understand deadlines, and determine the appropriate sequence of legal steps.
Sherman Oaks, California, United States, 23rd Sep 2026 – Ghazi Law Group, APLC (15250 Ventura Blvd, Suite 420, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403; Phone: (818) 839-6644; Email: contact@ghazilawgroup.com) is highlighting coordinated planning for clients whose divorce, separation, or family-law dispute may affect an immigration matter. For Los Angeles County families facing overlapping legal questions, working with an immigration lawyer who also understands California family law can help identify which issue requires attention first, what documents may affect both matters, and where timing could create avoidable complications. The firm’s boutique model brings immigration and family-law services together so clients can evaluate status concerns, filing strategy, support obligations, and family-court decisions within a more connected legal plan.

Residents researching options can also review Ghazi Law Group’s dedicated immigration attorney resource, which outlines immigration services for Sherman Oaks, the San Fernando Valley, and nearby Los Angeles County communities. The firm also provides guidance for situations in which divorce and immigration issues intersect, including questions involving filing sequence, conditional status, VAWA protections, and financial obligations connected to sponsorship. Local customers can find directions and reviews through the firm’s Google profile while using the website to identify records, notices, relationship documents, and key dates that may be relevant before a consultation. Preparing those materials early can help keep the first legal discussion focused on priorities, deadlines, and the relationship between the two cases.
Based in Sherman Oaks, Ghazi Law Group, APLC serves Los Angeles County clients with immigration and family-law matters through a boutique practice led by founder Naz Ghazi. The firm’s combined practice areas allow clients to address immigration status, divorce strategy, and related family-law concerns within a coordinated legal framework.
Divorce can create additional questions for people whose immigration history is connected to a spouse or family relationship. Depending on the circumstances, clients may be concerned about a pending family petition, conditional permanent residence, sponsorship obligations, abuse-related protections, custody, support, or whether developments in family court could affect documents and evidence relevant to an immigration matter.
The practical challenge is often sequencing. A client may need to understand what should be addressed first, which deadlines cannot wait, what records should be preserved, and whether decisions in one proceeding could create complications in another. Coordinated planning can help establish a clear legal timeline, organize supporting evidence, and reduce communication gaps between immigration and family-law issues.
“Clients facing both immigration and family-law questions need a clear picture of how the two matters interact,” said Naz Ghazi, Founder of Ghazi Law Group, APLC. “Our focus is on identifying immediate priorities, organizing the relevant evidence, and helping clients understand the legal steps available to them.”
What Ghazi Law Group, APLC Provides for Los Angeles County

Quick Answers
Can divorce affect an immigration case?
It can, depending on the immigration benefit, the person’s current status, the stage of the case, and the underlying relationship. Marriage-based filings and conditional residence can raise different questions from other immigration categories, so the legal sequence should be evaluated against the specific facts of the case.
Why can filing sequence matter when divorce and immigration overlap?
Different proceedings can have separate deadlines, evidence requirements, and legal consequences. Reviewing both matters together can help identify urgent filings, preserve relevant documents, and determine whether a family-court development could affect an immigration strategy or the evidence available later. Coordinated review can also clarify which issue requires attention first.
Does Ghazi Law Group handle both immigration and divorce matters?
Yes. Ghazi Law Group practices both immigration law and California family law. Its services include family immigration petitions, asylum, NIW, VAWA and U visa matters, along with divorce, custody, support, mediation, and related family-law services. This allows overlapping concerns to be reviewed within the same practice.
Typical project flow:
- Review immigration status, family-law issues, and immediate deadlines.
- Identify documents and evidence relevant to both matters.
- Establish filing priorities and a coordinated legal sequence.
- Prepare the appropriate immigration or family-law filings and next steps.

Trusted ADU Contractor in Los Angeles: ADU Los Angeles Helps Homeowners Navigate 2026 ADU Rules
ADU Los Angeles, one of the best ADU contractor options for Los Angeles homeowners, highlights a property-first approach to navigating new 2026 ADU rules. The company helps property owners evaluate ADU feasibility, site conditions, utilities, access, design, permitting and construction before committing to a project direction. The release also addresses updated California requirements affecting JADUs and explains why homeowners should verify current state and local requirements when planning detached ADUs, attached ADUs, garage conversions and Junior ADUs.
Los Angeles, CA, United States, 23rd Sep 2026 – ADU Los Angeles is helping Los Angeles homeowners understand how current California accessory dwelling unit requirements and evolving local regulations can affect decisions made before an ADU reaches the construction stage. From determining which type of unit fits a property to reviewing utilities, access, site conditions, design requirements, and permitting considerations, the company recommends beginning with the property itself rather than selecting a generic plan. Working with an experienced ADU contractor in Los Angeles can give homeowners a clearer picture of what may be feasible before substantial time and money are committed to drawings or construction assumptions. ADU Los Angeles says this property-first approach is especially relevant in 2026 as California continues to update ADU requirements and the City of Los Angeles considers changes to its local ADU ordinance.

California’s Department of Housing and Community Development updated its Accessory Dwelling Unit Handbook in March 2026 to incorporate legislative changes affecting ADUs and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units, commonly known as JADUs.
Among the changes reflected in the state guidance are revised owner-occupancy provisions for JADUs. When a JADU shares sanitation facilities with the primary structure, owner occupancy is required under the updated state framework. When sanitation facilities are not shared, the state guidance provides that owner occupancy is not required. JADUs also may no longer be used as short-term rentals and, when rented, must be rented for periods longer than 30 days.
For Los Angeles homeowners, the changes reinforce the importance of working with current information instead of relying on an older online article, a previous project, or the experience of a neighboring property.
ADU Planning Starts With the Property
ADU Los Angeles recommends evaluating the property before becoming committed to a particular ADU size, configuration, floor plan, or construction budget.
Factors such as lot configuration, existing structures, available yard area, setbacks, utility locations and capacity, grading, construction access, privacy, drainage, structural conditions, and the location of the primary residence can influence the direction of a project.
The homeowner’s intended use for the ADU is another important consideration.
A homeowner creating space for aging parents may prioritize accessibility and privacy differently from someone building housing for an adult child or planning a long-term rental. Those priorities can affect bedroom configuration, entrances, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor space, and the relationship between the ADU and the main residence.
“An ADU project should begin with an understanding of the property and the homeowner’s goals,” the ADU Los Angeles team said. “Once those pieces are understood, design, permitting, budgeting, and construction planning can be coordinated around a realistic project.”
Current 2026 Rules Make Up-to-Date Planning Important
California’s ADU framework has changed substantially over recent years, and 2026 brought additional updates.
The March 2026 HCD handbook incorporates legislative changes that became effective at different points in 2025 and on January 1, 2026. In addition to changes affecting JADUs, the state guidance addresses application procedures and responsibilities for local agencies administering ADU ordinances.
Los Angeles is also working on an update to its local ADU regulations.
Los Angeles City Planning released a second draft of its proposed ADU Ordinance in September 2026 as part of the Missing Middle LA initiative. According to City Planning, the proposal is intended in part to bring the City’s 2019 ADU regulations into alignment with current state law.
The September ordinance remains a proposal rather than a final adopted ordinance. City Planning has scheduled a staff-level public hearing on the Missing Middle LA proposals for October 1, 2026.
ADU Los Angeles recommends that homeowners distinguish between rules currently in effect and proposed changes that are still moving through the public review and adoption process.
Detached ADU, Attached ADU, Garage Conversion or JADU?
There is no single ADU configuration that works equally well for every Los Angeles property.
A detached backyard ADU can provide a separate living environment and greater independence from the main residence. An attached ADU may be appropriate when homeowners want to expand usable living space while maintaining a physical connection with the primary structure.
Garage conversions can make use of an existing structure, although homeowners should not assume that converting an existing garage automatically makes a project simple. Structural conditions, ceiling heights, foundations, utilities, insulation, windows, fire and life-safety requirements, and other building considerations may need to be addressed.
A JADU offers another option under California law, but it has specific size, location, and operational requirements that differ from a standard ADU.
The appropriate choice depends on the property, homeowner goals, current regulations, and the feasibility of the proposed construction.
Connecting Design, Permits and Construction
Homeowners frequently begin their ADU research by asking how many square feet they can build or how much the project will cost. ADU Los Angeles encourages property owners to broaden that initial discussion to include site feasibility, utilities, permit requirements, engineering, and construction access. ADU Los Angeles works with homeowners to coordinate design, planning, permitting, and construction considerations as connected parts of the same project rather than treating each stage in isolation. Reviewing those issues earlier in the process can identify conflicts while plans can still be adjusted and can help create a project scope based on the conditions of the actual property rather than assumptions made before the site has been evaluated.
The company’s design and planning process can begin with information such as the property address, photographs of the site, an existing survey or plans when available, and a description of who will use the ADU and what the homeowner wants the space to include.
Design decisions can then be evaluated alongside engineering, site conditions, permit requirements, utility considerations, and anticipated construction needs.
Approval procedures can also vary according to the property’s jurisdiction. Los Angeles, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Glendale, and other incorporated cities use their own review departments and procedures.
Preapproved plans do not eliminate the need for property-specific review. Even when a standardized or preapproved design is considered, the property must still satisfy applicable site, building, and current local requirements.
Avoiding Cost Surprises Before Construction
Many ADU cost variables are determined by conditions that are not immediately visible in an advertised square-foot construction price.
Site access and grading, utility distance and capacity, structural complexity, kitchens and bathrooms, windows, finish selections, existing conditions, and required site improvements can influence overall project scope.
For that reason, ADU Los Angeles recommends that homeowners evaluate feasibility before comparing projects based exclusively on advertised pricing.
A smaller ADU on a difficult site can sometimes involve construction considerations that are absent from a larger unit on a straightforward property.
Understanding those conditions early gives homeowners more useful information for deciding how they want to proceed.
A Property-First Path From Idea to Construction
For homeowners beginning an ADU project in 2026, ADU Los Angeles recommends approaching the process in a logical sequence:
Property Feasibility → ADU Type → Design → Engineering → Permits → Construction Planning → Build
That approach allows important questions to be addressed before construction begins.
Where will utilities connect? Can workers and equipment access the proposed building area? Does the existing structure affect the design? What jurisdiction reviews the property? Is a detached ADU, attached unit, garage conversion, or JADU the more appropriate configuration? Are there property-specific conditions that could influence the design or budget?
Answering those questions can turn a general idea for additional living space into a project based on the actual property and current requirements.

Quick Answers
Why are Santa Ana winds important to wildfire planning in Los Angeles County?
Santa Ana winds are hot, dry winds that can contribute to dangerous wildfire conditions when combined with dry vegetation. Los Angeles County Fire Department specifically identifies them as a wildfire concern. Property owners can prepare by reviewing access, vegetation exposure, evacuation procedures, communications, and other site-specific vulnerabilities before strong-wind conditions arrive.
What should property owners review before fall wildfire conditions?
A practical review can include defensible space, home-hardening vulnerabilities, access routes, ignition risks, emergency supplies, communications, and evacuation responsibilities. CAL FIRE recommends preparing both the property and household in advance. A fire risk assessment can help organize these concerns into prioritized actions rather than leaving readiness as a general checklist.
How does WUI fire protection apply to Los Angeles properties?
WUI fire protection focuses on locations where homes or developed properties meet or intermingle with wildland vegetation. In Los Angeles County, hillside and canyon-adjacent properties may face these conditions. Planning can address vegetation, structure vulnerabilities, access, evacuation needs, and mitigation priorities based on the specific site rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Why should HOAs and property managers establish evacuation roles early?
Evacuation planning works more effectively when decision-makers, communication methods, routes, and responsibilities are established before an incident. HOAs and property managers may need to coordinate residents, tenants, staff, and vendors. Defining roles early helps reduce confusion and makes procedures easier to communicate, review, and practice before time-sensitive conditions develop.
