If You Owned, Inherited or Held an Interest in a Home That Was Foreclosed in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, You May Be Owed Part of More Than $23 Million in Unclaimed Foreclosure Surplus Funds

Published

on

Foreclosure Recovery Inc. urges former homeowners and their heirs to check their claim at usforeclosurerecovery.com before the money is transferred to the state. There is no upfront fee, and the company has served more than 3,400 recovery clients nationwide.

United States, 16th Sep 2026 – The following statement is being issued by Foreclosure Recovery Inc. regarding excess foreclosure sale proceeds currently held by the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts.

When a foreclosed home is sold at a sheriff’s sale for more than the amount owed to the lender, the difference does not belong to the bank, the buyer or the county. It belongs to the former owner, or to that owner’s heirs. In Ohio these balances are called excess funds, and they sit with the court until someone files a claim.

According to the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts’ own published “Excess Funds – Foreclosure” list, reviewed by Foreclosure Recovery Inc. on September 13, 2026, the county is holding balances in 6,657 foreclosure cases totaling more than $23.1 million. More than 540 of those cases hold $10,000 or more, and the largest single balance exceeds $213,000. Most of the people named on that list have no idea the money exists.

Who is included

You may be entitled to a payment if you owned, inherited or otherwise held an interest in a Cuyahoga County home that was sold at a foreclosure sale for more than what was owed on it. Common examples include the former owner of record, a spouse or co-owner, and the heirs or estate of an owner who has since passed away. Many of the county’s larger balances are held in the names of “unknown heirs,” which means the court was never able to find the family.

Why the money goes unclaimed

Notice of a surplus is usually given only through the court file and a legal advertisement. By the time the sale closes, most families have moved, and heirs of a deceased owner are rarely told at all. Under Ohio law, court-held funds that stay unclaimed are eventually turned over to the state’s unclaimed funds program, where recovery takes longer and requires more paperwork. Foreclosure Recovery Inc. was founded to close that notification gap.

What are your options?

  • Check your claim. Visit www.usforeclosurerecovery.com/claim-foreclosure-surplus-funds, enter the property address, and the company will review the county record and tell you what it finds. The check is free and takes about two minutes. You can also call (888) 545-8007, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific, seven days a week.
  • Let the company handle the claim. If a surplus exists, Foreclosure Recovery Inc. verifies the balance against the county’s record, prepares the court filing, coordinates with the Clerk of Courts, and sends a notary to you. There is no upfront cost. The company is paid a contingency fee only after the funds are released, and the fee is disclosed in writing before anything is signed.
  • File on your own. Claimants may petition the court directly without paying a fee. The company’s service is for people who would rather not handle a court filing, notary and attorney fees themselves, or who live out of state, or who are dealing with an estate.
  • Do nothing. The balance stays with the court and, in time, is transferred to the state.

The legal backdrop

The unanimous 2023 United States Supreme Court decision in Tyler v. Hennepin County held that a government may not keep the equity left over after a foreclosure. Since that ruling, states and counties across the country have been publishing their surplus lists and, in several cases, settling with former owners who were never paid. Cuyahoga County’s list is public. The claims still have to be filed one case at a time, which is where most families lose the money.

A note for people who want to do this work

Foreclosure Recovery Inc. also trains and supports independent Asset Recovery Agents who locate former homeowners, explain what the court is holding and help them file. Agents work from home on their own schedule with a support desk behind them. Information on the program is available at usforeclosureleads.com.

Ryan Cassidy Electrician Highlights EV Charger Installation and Electrical Upgrade Services

Why Modern Electrical Services Matter

Homes today often need to support more electrical equipment than they did when they were first built. Electric vehicles, new appliances, home offices, heating and cooling equipment, and other electrical devices can place additional demands on existing systems. An electrical assessment helps determine whether a home can accommodate new equipment safely and whether changes to the existing wiring, panel, or service may be necessary.

EV charging is one example of this growing demand. While some homes can accommodate a new charger with limited electrical work, others may require additional capacity or panel modifications. Understanding the home’s existing electrical setup before installation helps homeowners plan the work, identify potential limitations, and make informed decisions about their electrical needs.

EV Charger Installation in Mendon, MA

Homeowners considering an electric vehicle can explore EV charger installation in Mendon, MA with Ryan Cassidy Electrician. Installing a home charging station provides a convenient way to charge a vehicle between trips, particularly for residents who prefer charging at home rather than relying exclusively on public charging locations.

Before installation, the property’s electrical capacity, panel condition, charger requirements, and proposed installation location should be reviewed. The distance between the electrical panel and charging area, the routing of wiring, and any necessary circuit protection can affect the scope of work. An assessment helps establish the installation requirements and identify whether additional electrical work may be needed.

Homeowners should also consider their daily driving habits, vehicle specifications, and preferred charging location when selecting equipment. Proper planning helps ensure that the charging setup is appropriate for the property and intended use.

Generator Installation in Millis, MA

Reliable backup power is an important consideration for households that want to prepare for electrical interruptions. Through generator installation in Millis, MA, homeowners can explore backup power options based on their household’s electrical requirements and the equipment they want to operate during an outage.

The appropriate generator depends on the intended load, available installation space, fuel requirements, and the home’s electrical configuration. Some homeowners may want to prioritize essential circuits, such as refrigeration, lighting, and selected heating equipment, while others may need a larger system to support additional household loads.

A properly planned installation also requires attention to transfer equipment, electrical connections, applicable codes, and manufacturer requirements. Homeowners should discuss their priorities before selecting a system so the proposed installation reflects their backup power needs.

Electrical Panel and Service Upgrades in Wellesley, MA

An electrical panel plays an important role in distributing power throughout a home. As households add appliances, charging equipment, and other electrical devices, the existing electrical system may need to be evaluated to determine whether it can support the additional demand.

Ryan Cassidy Electrician provides information about electrical panel and service upgrades in Wellesley, MA for homeowners experiencing capacity limitations or planning significant electrical additions. Depending on the property’s condition and electrical requirements, the work may involve evaluating the existing panel, reviewing service capacity, addressing outdated components, or making changes needed to support new equipment.

A panel upgrade is not automatically necessary whenever a homeowner adds an appliance or charger. The correct approach depends on the existing installation, calculated electrical loads, available capacity, and applicable electrical requirements. Having the system assessed before beginning a project can help homeowners understand the work involved and plan accordingly.

EV Charger Installation in Douglas, MA

Residents researching EV charger installation in Douglas, MA can consider how a dedicated home charging station may fit into their everyday routines. Charging at home can reduce the need for frequent public charging stops and allow drivers to recharge their vehicles while parked overnight or during other periods when the vehicle is not in use.

The installation process starts with reviewing the selected charger and the property’s electrical system. The electrician can evaluate the proposed location, circuit requirements, wiring route, and panel capacity to determine the work needed. If the existing system has limitations, those issues should be identified before installation proceeds.

Homeowners should choose charging equipment compatible with their vehicle and intended charging needs. Installation should follow applicable electrical codes, manufacturer instructions, and relevant permitting requirements. These considerations help support a charging arrangement that suits the property and is designed for safe operation.

EV Charger Installation in Dover, MA

For homeowners planning to purchase an electric vehicle or improve their existing charging arrangement, EV charger installation in Dover, MA offers an opportunity to evaluate home charging options. The right setup depends on the vehicle, charger specifications, electrical capacity, and the location where the vehicle will be parked.

A site assessment can help determine where the charger should be installed and whether the existing panel and wiring can accommodate the additional load. Homeowners may also need to consider the distance from the electrical panel, indoor or outdoor installation conditions, and the accessibility of the charging point.

Planning these details in advance helps establish a clear scope of work and reduces the likelihood of unexpected installation requirements. Ryan Cassidy Electrician encourages homeowners to discuss their electrical setup and project goals before moving forward with a new charging station.

A Focus on Electrical Safety and Planning

Electrical projects require more than choosing equipment and deciding where it should be installed. The condition of existing wiring, the capacity of electrical components, circuit protection, and compliance with applicable codes all influence the installation process.

For projects involving EV chargers, generators, or electrical panels, an initial assessment helps identify relevant requirements before work begins. Homeowners should avoid overloading existing circuits or attempting electrical modifications without appropriate qualifications. Work involving new circuits, service equipment, and permanently installed charging systems should be handled by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable regulations.

Clear communication also helps homeowners understand the proposed scope, expected work, and any additional requirements. By reviewing the property and discussing the intended use of the equipment, the electrician can help determine an appropriate course of action.

How the Service Process Works

The process begins with a discussion about the homeowner’s electrical needs. This may involve installing an EV charger, evaluating backup power options, or determining whether an existing electrical panel can support planned additions.

The next step is to review the property’s electrical system and establish the requirements for the proposed work. Depending on the project, this can include checking panel capacity, identifying a suitable equipment location, planning wiring routes, and determining whether permits or additional modifications are required.

After the scope is established, the homeowner can review the proposed work and associated estimate before scheduling. Installation is then carried out according to the applicable requirements for the project. A final review helps confirm that the installed equipment and electrical connections have been addressed as required.

Serving Homeowners Across Massachusetts

Ryan Cassidy Electrician serves Blackstone and surrounding Massachusetts communities with electrical services for residential projects. Homeowners in Mendon, Millis, Wellesley, Douglas, and Dover can inquire about their specific installation or upgrade requirements.

Whether a project involves a home EV charging station, backup generator, or electrical panel evaluation, the work should reflect the property’s existing conditions and the homeowner’s goals. Service availability and installation requirements can vary by location and project scope, so customers should contact the company to discuss their address and needs.

The company also provides other electrical services, including lighting installation, wiring, and electrical system improvements. Homeowners planning several projects can discuss their priorities and determine which work should be evaluated first.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What should I consider before installing a home EV charger?

Consider your vehicle’s charging requirements, the charger’s specifications, the proposed installation location, and your home’s electrical capacity. An electrician can assess the existing system and determine whether a dedicated circuit or additional electrical work is needed.

2. Is an electrical panel upgrade required for every EV charger installation?

No. The need for an upgrade depends on the panel’s condition, available capacity, existing electrical loads, and the charger’s requirements. An electrical assessment can help establish whether the existing system can accommodate the installation.

3. What should homeowners consider when planning generator installation?

Homeowners should identify which appliances and circuits they want to power during an outage, then consider generator capacity, fuel type, transfer equipment, installation location, and applicable code requirements. These factors help determine which system may be appropriate.

4. When should I consider an electrical panel and service upgrade?

An assessment may be appropriate when adding major electrical equipment, planning renovations, experiencing signs of electrical problems, or determining whether an older system can accommodate additional demand. The actual need for an upgrade depends on the property’s electrical condition and requirements.

5. Does EV charger installation differ from one property to another?

Yes. Installation requirements can vary according to panel capacity, charger specifications, wiring distance, mounting location, and the existing electrical infrastructure. A site assessment helps identify the work required for each property.

Independent Louisiana horror film production company recognized at the national level by the International Association for Business Excellence

Labadieville, Louisiana, 3rd Nov 2026 — Horror House Pictures, an independent horror film production company based in Louisiana, has received the 2026 IABE National Excellence Award from the International Association for Business Excellence (IABE). The National Excellence Award is one of the highest recognitions the association offers, and it validates that an organization has met IABE’s standards at a national level.

Horror House Pictures Earns 2026 IABE National Excellence Award

Horror House Pictures was founded by husband and wife Brandon Scott Harrell and Cheyenne Harrell, who own and operate the company. The Harrells said the award means a great deal to them and affirms that they are on the right path.

IABE evaluates every applicant against five core standards: Digital Presence, Customer Reputation, Operational Standing, Industry Tenure, and Professional Integrity. Only a fraction of the organizations IABE reviews are approved. Horror House Pictures met all five standards in the 2026 evaluation period, and its recipient profile is now live on the IABE website.

The company’s origin is a story of urgency. In 2022, Brandon was seriously injured in a violent assault. Realizing how close he had come to losing his life, he decided not to wait to pursue his dream of making films. He and Cheyenne founded Horror House Pictures together.

Horror House Pictures has built a dedicated following among horror fans and independent filmmakers. Supporters know the Harrells as genuinely good people who take care of the fans who stand behind them. The company is also guided by clear principles:

  • No animals on set. The company does not use animals in its films, to avoid working with animal trainers who may be abusive, and it does not accept scripts that include animal deaths.
  • Creators come first. Horror House Pictures is dedicated to giving filmmakers more creative control over their vision and respecting their work as they intended it.
  • Fan-supported independence. The Harrells own a merchandise company that helps sustain their films. Every dollar goes back into their film budgets.

“Horror House Pictures is a clear example of what our National Excellence Award is designed to recognize: a real company with a distinctive mission, a loyal audience, and principles it is willing to put in writing,” said a representative of IABE.

Fans, filmmakers, and potential partners can learn more at the company’s website or by calling the Horror House Pictures office at (985) 333-8086, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central.
